Creature seems to be dividing readers in grand fashion. Two camps seem to be developing : one starting that the book is genius in it’s slow burn study that comes to a boil and exploding like a volcano. Others have found it tedious and the action a little too late to salvage the story.

I am in a third, seemingly new island into myself (in the three minutes I spent reading others reviews). The characters in Creature, based on the author and his wife, are well rounded, real, likeable and are captivating for the 3/4 of the book that they dominate. Only when the action starts on and an overthought and unimpressive twist occurs did I have ANY negative feeling about the book.

Shea has real talent, that is for sure. This was my first of his books, and I look forward to more.
